Debates and speeches

토론·강연·공식 담화 듣고 두 문항

TOPIK II Listening Q31–36: a debate (31–32), a short talk or presentation (33–34) and a formal speech or announcement (35–36). Questions test the speaker's main idea and attitude, the topic, what the speaker is doing, and details.

Test tips

  1. Debates (31–32): the woman raises the issue and objections, the man states his position. His real stance follows '하지만/그러나' and appears in the closing '-어야 합니다'.
  2. Attitude questions are about how he speaks, not what: citing figures (구체적인 수치), historical examples (역사적 사례), partial concession (일부 인정), raising doubts (의문을 제기), urging (촉구), offering alternatives (대안을 제시).
  3. Talks (33–34): the topic is usually stated in the first one or two sentences, as a question or '-는 이유는…'; choose the option that covers the whole talk and rule out options that are just one example.
  4. Speeches (35–36): identify the occasion (graduation, opening, award, apology, announcement) from the opening line; answer verbs are often 축하하다, 격려하다, 소개하다, 안내하다, 사과하다, 감사를 전하다.
  5. Jot down numbers, times and conditions (평일/주말, 무료, 매주 토요일), since 'matching statement' options often swap them.
  6. Recordings run about 40–60 seconds: preview all eight options during the instructions and settle the first question as soon as the audio ends to leave time for the second.

남자의 중심 생각으로 가장 알맞은 것을 고르십시오.

Explanation

Questions 31–32 are debates: the woman raises the issue and objections, the man states his position. Focus on what follows '하지만' and on his last line. He says barring all children '지나치다고 봅니다', proposes '보호자가 지켜야 할 규칙을 분명히 알리는 게 맞지 않을까요?' and concludes '출입 자체를 막기보다 함께 이용하는 방법을 찾아야 합니다'. So the answer is 2. Option 3 is the opposite stance; option 1 is wrong because he doesn't deny the owner's responsibility but suggests consent forms; option 4 is never said.

남자의 태도로 가장 알맞은 것을 고르십시오.

Explanation

Attitude questions are about how he speaks, not what. He opens with '충분히 이해합니다' (partial concession), objects with '하지만', and offers concrete solutions: rules for guardians and a '보호자 동의서'. That is 'acknowledging part of the other view while proposing an alternative', answer 4. Option 2 is wrong because he doesn't fully agree; option 3 is wrong because he argues a personal position rather than reporting objectively; option 1 is the opposite of his stance.
