TOPIK II Listening Q4–8: listen to a short exchange (2–3 lines) between a man and a woman and choose the most natural next line. It tests whether you grasp the intention of the last line (question, request, complaint, advice, suggestion) and respond appropriately.

Test tips

  1. Work out who speaks next: in a 2-line exchange the first speaker replies; in a 3-line exchange the second speaker replies.
  2. The last line is the key: if it's a question (언제, 어디, 어떻게, 얼마나, 어때요?), the answer must give exactly that kind of information; if it's a complaint or worry, the answer is usually sympathy, advice or a solution.
  3. After a suggestion (-는 건 어때요?, -아/어 보세요), the answer is usually agreement plus a next step ('좋네요. … 해 봐야겠어요') or a reasoned hesitation.
  4. Eliminate options with the wrong timing (speaking as if something were finished when it hasn't happened), options that contradict what you heard, and lines that belong to the other speaker.
  5. Don't pick an option just because it repeats a keyword from the audio – the right answer is often paraphrased.
  6. Skim the four options before the audio (about 10 seconds) to predict the topic and situation.

Explanation

In this type, the answer is always the first speaker's reply (here, the woman) to the other person's last line, so listen closely to that last line. The man states his problem: '그래프 넣는 방법을 몰라서 아직 못 끝냈어요' (he can't finish because he doesn't know how to add graphs). The natural reply is an offer of help: '제가 아는 방법을 알려 드릴까요?' – option 2. Option 1 is wrong because the presentation is next week, and option 4 is wrong because he hasn't finished ('아직 못 끝냈어요'). Option 3 sounds like something the man would say, not the woman's reply.
