TOPIK I · Reading · Questions 31–33 · Level 1

What is it about?

무엇에 대한 내용인지 고르기

Read two short sentences (Q31–33) and choose the noun that names what they are about.

Test tips

  1. Find what the two sentences share; don't pick a word found in only one (회사 in 'up at 7, at work at 9' is the trap; the answer is 시간).
  2. A word repeated in both sentences is usually the key (키가 크다/작다 → 키; 생일 … 생일 → 생일).
  3. Look at the main predicates: 먹다/마시다 → 식사, 사다/원 → 값 or 쇼핑, 살다 + country → 나라.
  4. Common trap: a noun that appears but is only a detail (언니 → 가족, 사과/바나나 → 과일 when the text is about prices).
  5. This is the easiest reading type: spend at most 30 seconds per item and save time for long texts.

저는 한국 사람입니다. 친구는 베트남 사람입니다.
Translation

I am Korean. My friend is Vietnamese.

무엇에 대한 내용입니까? <보기>와 같이 알맞은 것을 고르십시오.

Explanation

This type has two short sentences; find what they share and pick the covering noun. Sentence 1 says '한국 사람' (Korean) and sentence 2 '베트남 사람' (Vietnamese): both say which country each person is from, so the topic is 나라 (country). 친구 is the trap because it appears in the text, but sentence 1 is about the writer, not the friend. Names (이름) and age (나이) are not mentioned.
