Fill in the blank

빈칸에 알맞은 말 고르기

Read one or two sentences (Q34–39) and choose the word for the blank: a particle, a place noun, a verb, an adjective, an adverb or a connector.

Test tips

  1. Check the blank's position: right after a noun → a particle (을/를, 에, 와/과…); before '에 갑니다' → a place; at the end → a verb or adjective.
  2. Read the reason sentence first and test the cause–effect link around 그래서: bad eyesight → 안경점, heavy bag → 들어 주다.
  3. Learn set collocations: 짐을 싸다, 문자를 보내다, 전화를 걸다/받다, 기타를 치다, N와/과 같이, N에 일어나다.
  4. A particle after the blank can eliminate options (( )을 → a noun ending in a consonant).
  5. Plug each option in and reread the whole sentence; pick the only one that is both grammatical and logical.

Worked examples

저는 주말에 친구(  ) 같이 영화를 봅니다.
Translation

On weekends I watch movies with my friend.

<보기>와 같이 ( )에 들어갈 가장 알맞은 것을 고르십시오.

Explanation

When the blank follows a noun, think particle and look at the next word. After the blank comes '같이' (together), and the set pattern is 'N와/과 같이' (together with N). 친구 ends in a vowel, so it takes 와: '친구와 같이'. '친구를' would make the friend an object, which is ungrammatical here. '친구에' is for places and times, not people. '친구가' would make the friend a second subject and doesn't combine with 같이.
