Explanation
Weighs two poor options and prefers the second, often with 차라리. Vowel or ㄹ stems take ㄹ 바에야, consonant stems 을 바에야. The main clause is usually -는 게 낫다.
Examples
억지로 할 바에야 차라리 안 하는 게 낫다.
If you're going to do it grudgingly, better not to do it at all.
비싼 돈을 주고 고칠 바에는 새로 사겠어요.
Rather than pay so much to fix it, I'll buy a new one.
이렇게 기다릴 바에야 걸어가는 게 빠르겠다.
Rather than wait like this, walking would be faster.
