Explanation
States a (usually hard or pressing) situation in which the main clause is unreasonable or unavoidable. Present verbs take 는 마당에, past (으)ㄴ 마당에. Often critical in tone.
Examples
회사가 어려운 마당에 월급을 올려 달라고 할 수는 없지요.
With the company struggling, I can't ask for a raise.
시험이 내일인 마당에 놀러 가겠다고?
The exam is tomorrow and you want to go out?
이미 결정된 마당에 다시 논의할 필요는 없다.
Now that it's decided, there's no need to discuss it again.
