Explanation
Prefers the second option because the first is worse; usually with 차라리 and a main clause in -겠다 or -는 게 낫다. Attaches to verb stems without tense. Close to -(으)ㄹ 바에야.
Examples
그 사람에게 부탁하느니 차라리 혼자 하겠어요.
I'd rather do it myself than ask him.
이런 음식을 먹느니 굶는 게 낫다.
I'd rather go hungry than eat this.
집에서 노느니 아르바이트라도 하는 게 어때?
Rather than lounge at home, why not get a part-time job?
