Explanation
When intending to do something, a difficulty arises; typical of dilemmas: A-자니 ~, 안 A-자니 ~. Attaches to verb stems. Shortened from -자고 하니.

I can't afford it, but I'd regret not buying it.
혼자 하자니 시간이 너무 많이 걸린다.
Doing it alone would take far too long.
솔직하게 말하자니 친구가 상처받을 것 같다.
