Explanation
The result goes against what the first clause (a real fact) would lead you to expect. Verbs take 는데도, adjectives (으)ㄴ데도, nouns 인데도; past -았/었는데도.
Examples
약을 먹었는데도 열이 내리지 않아요.
Even though I took medicine, my fever won't go down.
주말인데도 회사에 나가야 해요.
I have to go to work even though it's the weekend.
아무리 설명하는데도 이해를 못 해요.
However much I explain, he doesn't understand.
