The speaker confidently predicts a (usually bad) outcome from the situation. Vowel or ㄹ stems take ㄹ 게 뻔하다, consonant stems 을 게 뻔하다; past -았/었을 게 뻔하다.

If we leave now, we'll obviously be late.
