Explanation
Doing something and keeping the result ready for later. ㅏ/ㅗ stems take 아 놓다, others 어 놓다; 두다 stresses keeping it longer. Unlike -아/어 있다 (state only, no agent).
Examples
손님이 오기 전에 음식을 만들어 놓았어요.
I prepared the food before the guests arrived.
창문을 열어 두세요.
Leave the window open.
비행기 표를 미리 예약해 놓았어요.
I booked the plane tickets in advance.
