States a clear, objective reason, common in writing. Attaches to the stem and allows -았/었-; nouns take 때문에 ('because of N'). Rarely followed by commands or suggestions.
例文

I couldn't go to school because I caught a cold.
눈 때문에 비행기가 출발하지 못했어요.
