Basic vowels 1
The first 6 vowels and the silent ㅇ
Hangul is written in syllable blocks: each block is one syllable, made of a first consonant + a vowel (+ a final consonant).
A block never starts with a bare vowel. When there is no consonant, the silent ㅇ is written first: ㅏ → 아.
Vowels with a long vertical stroke (ㅏ ㅓ ㅣ) go to the right of the consonant; vowels with a long horizontal stroke (ㅗ ㅜ ㅡ) go below it.
